Friends:
I am sad to report that Matt's condition deteriorated overnight. Matt remains in a medically-induced coma and on a ventilator, but the brain trauma he sustained is proving to be much more serious than they had originally thought. Matt's medical team feels it is in his best interest to hold off on any further treatment and surgeries to address his neck and spinal injuries. Although this puts on hold immediate attempts to restore feeling and movement below his waist, it is imperative that they allow his brain every opportunity to recover and heal, which will ultimately increase the chances for his survival.
Matt's situation is very unstable at this time. His body is fragile, his brain fighting to heal.
Mark's exact words were "Matt is a very sick young man -- we need immediate and unceasing prayers for him right now."
Mark and Nancy have once again asked that we honor their request to not call them or come to the hospital at this time. The hospital only allows two (2) family members at a time on the floor where Matt is being treated. Additionally, the unit Matt is in right now does not allow or receive any cards or flowers for patients or families.
Mark, Nancy, and the girls believe God will do a miraculous healing in Matt, and ask that we all pray toward that end. Here are the specific things for which they ask prayer at this time:
* Immediate and total healing for Matt's brain injury.
* Skilled hands and clear minds for the medical team that is treating Matt
* Emotional and Physical rest and peace for the family
* Physical comfort for Matt -- it's going to be a long road.

Father, we place Matt into your hands asking You for a miracle. We know that You are the Healer and that You can heal Matt. But Lord, whatever Your will is in this may it be shown. Give Matt comfort and peace so he can heal quickly. Father, I lift Mark, Nancy, Nikki and Missy up to you. Please comfort them, place Your loving arms around them and give them peace. We love Matt and the entire family. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you for Jesus, our Lord and Savior. It is in His name we pray... Amen.

ReplyDeleteMatt is in your hands, Lord and there's no better hands to be in. Protect him and give him comfort and peace. Give Mark, Nancy, Nikki and Missy peace that you will do your will in this situation and it will glorify you in the end. Help them all to know that you are the greatest physician and you can heal anything that seems impossible to us in our mere human lives. Thank you in advance for all that you're going to do in the precious lives that have touch so many people and blessed because we know them. We ask this in faith knowing that your will-will be done-Amen
